Marc Boiron is CEO of Polygon Labs, a software development company building and developing a network of aggregated blockchains via the AggLayer.
A highly regarded Web3 veteran and innovator, Marc has strong leadership experience across legal, business and engineering functions. He brings together first-principles pioneering legal thinking and hands-on experience helping grow some of the most successful decentralized finance (DeFi) protocols.
Before joining Polygon Labs, Marc served as Chief Legal Officer at dYdX Trading, helping drive the development of one of the biggest DeFi derivative trading protocols. Prior to that, he was a partner in the blockchain and cryptocurrency and financial services groups of Manatt, Phelps & Phillips LLP, where he advised top-tier Web3 projects.
In August 2022, Marc joined Polygon Labs as Chief Legal Officer, responsible for crafting the legal and regulatory strategy for Polygon Labs as a whole and managing the legal team. Having accomplished that mission, he took on the CEO role in July 2023.
Marc’s Web3 journey began in 2013 in a restaurant, where he convinced a law firm colleague to sell off his Bitcoin holdings now worth a fortune. That colleague now works at Polygon Labs. But the encounter has planted a seed of curiosity about cryptocurrencies that later led Marc down the intellectual rabbithole when he encountered Ethereum.
